The Colosseum is one of the monuments frequently destroyed in movies on natural disasters. This is probably due to its grandness and symbolic value, which make it the perfect location of ‘catastrophic’ movies, like ’20 Million Miles to Earth’ (1957), ‘Double Team’ (1997) and ‘The Core’ (2003). When the film ‘The Gladiator’ (2000) was shot, it was asked to use the original monument, but unfortunately it was under restoration at the time. Therefore, a partial copy was built in Malta. However, the monument was rebuilt only up the first tier of seats. The rest was computer generated. The first season of one on the most famous mangas 'Saint Seiya’ is set in the Colosseum. A copy was built in Tokyo for the fights of young knights from all over the world.
