Bed & Breakfast Trevi Fountain, the most famous fountain in Rome.
The Trevi fountain is placed at the intersection of three roads and at the ending part of the Aqua Virgo, an aqueduct constructed in 19 BC that supplied water to ancient Rome. In fact, building a handsome fountain at the endpoint of an aqueduct was a Roman common habit.
Many Bed & Breakfast Trevi Fountain are located all around this impressive monument, that never cease to fascinate tourists from all over the world.
The current Trevi Fountain was designed as a large basin in a semi-circular shape. The central figure of the monument is Neptune riding a chariot pulled by two seahorses. Each horse is guided by a Triton and they symbolize the fluctuating moods of the sea: one is calm and obedient and the other restive. Before the enormous central niche stands Oceanus and to the side are the statues of Abundance and Salubrity. All around, a representation of rocks and petrified vegetation run along the foundation of the palace and around the borders of the pool, which represents the sea. Even the palace in the background, Palazzo Poli, with a facade featuring a giant order of Corinthian pilasters, blends perfectly with the composition.
