Many Bed & Breakfast Spanish Steps for all tastes and all budgets.
Spanish Steps is the widest staircase in Europe, counting 138 steps that link Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Trinità dei Monti. It was conceived by Francesco De Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi at the beginning of the eighteenth century, though some drawings dating back to 1580s gives testimony of a previous interest of Pope Gregory XIII in building the steps, that would have led to the recently-completed Church of Trinità dei Monti.
In the seventeenth century Cardinal Mazarin took a personal interest in the project contained in French diplomate Etienne Gueffier's will and entrusted it to his agent in Rome, but when he died in 1661, the will was successfully contested by a nephew who claimed half; so the project lay dormant for another half century. The monumental stairway was only completed in 1725 with Gueffier’s inherited funds.
You can choose your favourite Bed and Breakfast Spanish Steps among the many accommodations scattered around the square, in the streets branching out from Piazza di Spagna into the city centre.
