Apartments for rent Navona Square, the best solution for either single travellers or large families and groups.
Apart from being a majestic example of Roman baroque art and architecture, with its marvellous fountains and palaces, Piazza Navona is an extremely lively place with a numer of open air cafes around it where to spend some time during the day and at nights, enjoying Rome with the locals.
The apartments Navona Square are situated a few minutes walking from all the major attractions in the city, its monuments and museums.
Leaving the square at the south end going west, you will come to another piazza which is the home of Pasquino. Pasquino is the most famous talking statue in Rome, and became a symbol of the city between the XVI and the XIX century. It is part of a Hellenistic-style work dating to the 3rd century BC and representing a Greek warrior, which shows damages to the face and has no arms. It was unearthed in 1501 during some street works and the refurbishment of the Orsini Palace in the square where the statue is still to be found nowadays.
At night, satirical poems in broad Roman dialect called "pasquinades" criticizing the main public figures used to be attached to the foot or the neck of the statue. Before long Pasquino became a source of concern and frustration for the pasquinate’s victims, especially the popes: Adrian VI, Sixtus V and Clement VII tried to get rid of the troublesome statue, but no avail.
